Graduation isn’t goodbye — it’s just the beginning of a new way to stay connected. At College Democrats, we believe that once you're part of our family, you’re always part of it. That’s why we invite you to join our Alumni Network, a growing community of past members who continue to support our mission, values, and each other long after they’ve walked across the stage.

Dr. Matthew Green is a professor of politics at The Catholic University of America, where he has taught since 2005. He specializes in American politics, with a focus on political institutions, federalism, methodology, and state and local government. Among the many courses he teaches is the widely recognized Politics in the Age of Trump, as well as Washington Past and Present, an interdisciplinary class unique to Catholic University that explores the history and complexity of Washington, D.C.
An accomplished scholar, Professor Green has published extensively in top academic journals such as Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Research Quarterly, and State Politics & Policy Quarterly. His latest book, Newt Gingrich: The Rise and Fall of a Party Entrepreneur (University Press of Kansas, 2022), co-authored with Jeff Crouch, provides an in-depth look at the former Speaker of the House through original research and archival material. He also serves as co-editor of the Congressional Leadership series with the University Press of Kansas.
John White is author of several books on political parties and the American Presidency. The former advisor and dear friend to Catholic U College Dems, he wrote The New Politics of Old Values examined the role of values in political campaigns and presidential rhetoric with a special focus on the Reagan presidency. The Values Divide explored how political polarization developed in the post-Reagan years along cultural and social issues. Barack Obama's America described how a new political demography has reshaped American presidential politics that facilitated the election and reelection of Barack Obama.
Catholic University College Democrats have a strong tradition of hosting influential and inspiring guest speakers who reflect the values and vision of the Democratic Party. Past events have featured notable figures such as Congresswoman Grace Meng, who spoke about menstrual equity and human rights, and Governor Martin O’Malley, a Catholic U alumnus and former presidential candidate, who shared insights on political polarization and civic engagement. The chapter had one of its biggest events with Congressman Maxwell Frost, with over 50 people from all over Washington, DC.
Additionally, alumni like Kevin Walling, Victoria Perrone have returned to speak with students about their careers in politics, offering mentorship and a real-world perspective. These speaker events provide meaningful opportunities for students to engage directly with leaders, expand their political knowledge, and stay motivated in their advocacy efforts.
